Sugar & Crumb Bakery is a demonstration website built by Bots On Staff. The bakery is invented. Here is what the site does.

What you type

The pickup request, custom cake form, builder, quiz and chat on this site send nothing anywhere. What you enter stays in your browser tab. The pickup list you build is kept in your browser’s own storage so it is still there on the next page, and you can clear it any time from the order page.

Analytics

Pages load Bots On Staff’s demonstration analytics, which count visits to the demo so we know whether the demo is worth showing. We do not use it to identify you.

The phone number

The number on this site, (656) 236-2374, is a Bots On Staff line, not a bakery. If you call it you reach us.

A real bakery

A real bakery on a site like this would have its own privacy page that names who collects what and why. This is the placeholder for that page.

What the chat on this page is doing

Ask about a nut allergy and it will not guess: the macarons and the pecan pie are made with nuts in a shared kitchen, so it sends the question to a person at the counter. Ask what a 6-inch layer cake costs and it reads the price straight off the menu. Send it a picture of a cake you love and it hands the picture to a baker; it does not price from a photo.

It takes a name and a number and hands it straight over. Nothing here is held, scheduled or confirmed by the chat, and it will not price a custom cake.
