Questions
Ask before you cast off.
Ten honest answers. If yours is not here, the chat or the crew will tell you straight.
The questions
What happens at check-in?
The crew goes through the paperwork, then an orientation at the dock: the controls, how to dock and leave a slip, signals, fuel and what to do if you want help. In this sample, renters sign a waiver at check-in; a real operator sets its own.
Do I need boating experience or a licence?
Rules about age, licences and boating-safety ID are posted at check-in. Put the details in your request and a person will tell you what applies. The crew decides at orientation whether a self-drive rental suits you, and offers the captained option if it does not.
What is the captained option?
A captain drives and you do not. Ask for it in your request and a person confirms what is possible.
Where can we go?
Within the area the crew shows you on the chart. The Intracoastal and the New River are the usual starting points; the crew explains the limits, and boats stay inside them.
What if the weather turns?
The crew's call, on the day. Lightning, strong wind and poor conditions can move or cancel a rental. If yours cannot go, the crew contacts you to talk through the options.
What should we bring?
Sunscreen, hats, water and snacks. Ask the crew about food, drink and pets aboard; the rules are posted at check-in.
How many can come?
Each boat has a capacity, posted on the boat and confirmed by a person. Put your numbers and ages in the request.
Is it accessible?
Tell us in the request. A person will describe boarding, seating and the dock honestly before you decide.
What is included?
In this sample, life jackets, fenders, lines and a chart are provided. A person confirms exactly what is included when they reply. The chat does not discuss money.
How does a request work?
The chat or the form drafts a request: option, dates, party, ages, experience, notes. A person confirms by email or a call. Nothing is booked or held until they do, and the chat takes no payment.
