Unhurried on purpose.
Slack tide: the pause between going and coming. Also a fine way to spend a morning.

How a request works
Send a request. A person writes back. The water will wait.
Send a request
Use the chat or the form: the paddle, a day and a backup, who is coming, their ages and whether anyone has stood on a board.
A person writes back
It arrives as one email at the dock. A person reads every line and confirms by email or a call. Nothing is booked or held until they do.
A lesson on the shore
The crew fits your life jacket and leash, then runs a short lesson before the first stroke.
Paddles and rentals
The lagoon is 20 miles long. You can start with an hour.

90 minWhy “slack tide”
The tide comes in. The tide goes out. In between, there is a pause.
That pause is slack tide, and it is the idea behind the name. The lagoon changes daily with the tides through its two inlets, so times follow the tide and a person confirms them.

The crew
An instructor who teaches on the shore first.
Lead instructor Mina Okafor runs the lesson on the sand, with crew members Theo and Sam. All three are part of a sample we invented. Falling in is not failure. It is part of the lesson.
Reviews
What paddlers wrote afterwards.
I have the balance of a folding chair and the instructor made it enjoyable anyway. I fell in twice and was laughing both times.
My request was answered by a person early the next day, with a clear suggestion for a beginner lesson.
Sunrise on the lagoon is worth the early alarm. Calm, friendly crew and a clear lesson on the shore.
Arranged a Group Paddle for my sister's birthday. Eleven of us, one tidy email thread.
Honest about the wind. They moved our paddle by a day and explained why.
Our teenagers put their phones in a dry bag and paddled. The crew deserves credit.
Slack Tide Paddle Co. is a sample we invented, and these reviews are part of the sample.
The lagoon
Twenty miles of lagoon, and an island to paddle to.
The Lake Worth Lagoon is Palm Beach County’s largest estuary, and it spans 20 miles from North Palm Beach to Ocean Ridge. Peanut Island, the destination paddle, was formed by dredging in 1918.
