What is covered, for how long, and what is not

Labor is warranted for twelve months from the invoice date. If something we did comes undone — a seal we set, a bearing we packed, a fitting we made up — we put it right and we do not charge you to look at it.

Parts carry whatever the manufacturer gives them, and no more. We are not going to pretend we can extend somebody else’s warranty. What we will do is handle the claim paperwork rather than handing you a phone number, and tell you the term before we fit the part rather than after it fails.

Sealant work

Sealant we apply is warranted for twelve months against lifting, cracking or separating. It is not warranted against a branch, a ladder, a pressure washer held six inches from a seam, or the rest of a roof we told you in writing was near the end of its life. A repair to a failing roof buys time, and we will say so on the estimate when that is what it is.

Bearings and brakes

A repack is warranted for twelve months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first, and it depends on the wheels being re-torqued at the interval we write on the sheet. Lug nuts loosen after a wheel has been off — the first fifty miles matter, and if that re-torque never happened the warranty on that corner is gone. That is not a get-out; it is the reason we write the figure on the sheet in the first place.

Batteries

Batteries carry the manufacturer’s pro-rata term. A battery killed by being left flat all summer is not a warranty claim anywhere, and we will tell you that honestly rather than send you off to argue. If the charging system is what killed it, that is our diagnosis to make and it changes the answer.

Diagnosis

If we diagnose a fault, fit the part, and the fault is still there, the second look is free and so is the rethink. You pay for parts that were genuinely needed, not for our first guess being wrong.
