Clean tools & questions
Winter Park nail salon questions: clean tools, gel, dip
Straight answers to what our guests ask most, starting with the one that matters most: how every tool is cleaned between one guest and the next.
- Heat-sterilised metal tools
- Single-use files
- Lined, disinfected basins

Between guests
What happens to every tool, every time
- Scrubbed. Soap, water and a brush, to lift anything left on the metal.
- Sealed and sterilised. Into a pouch and through a heat cycle; the indicator on the pouch changes colour.
- Opened in front of you. Your technician tears the pouch at your station.
- Single-use goes home with you. Files, buffers and pumice are new every time.
Hygiene and tools
How do you clean your metal tools?
Every metal tool (nippers, pushers, clippers) is scrubbed with soap and water, then sealed in a pouch and heat-sterilised. The pouch changes colour when the cycle is complete. Your technician opens a new pouch at your station, in front of you.
Are files and buffers reused?
No. Files, buffers, pumice stones and toe separators are single-use. They are new for you, and afterwards they are yours to take home or they are thrown away.
How are the pedicure basins cleaned?
Our basins are pipe-less, so there are no jets to hold water. Each gets a new disposable liner for every guest, and is cleaned and disinfected between guests.
Do you use razors on calluses?
Never. Calluses are softened and smoothed with a single-use file.
Is the dip powder shared?
No. We pour a fresh portion of powder over your nails and throw away what falls. Your fingers never go into a shared jar.
Gel, dip and acrylic
Gel, dip or acrylic: which should I choose?
Gel is thin, flexible and most like your own nail, and usually lasts two to three weeks. Dip is harder and a little thicker, and often lasts three weeks or more. Acrylic is the one for length and shape. Tell us about your nails and we will suggest one.
Will gel or acrylic damage my nails?
The damage almost always comes from removal: peeling, picking or prying. We soak everything off gently, and we never file your natural nail thin.
Can you remove another salon’s gel or acrylic?
Yes. Mention it when you ask for a time, because it adds fifteen to thirty minutes.
Requests and walk-ins
Do you take walk-ins?
Yes, seven days a week, whenever a chair is free.
How do I ask for a time?
Through the chat on this site, the request page, or a call. The front desk texts you back to agree a time; nothing is held until they have replied.
Is there a cancellation fee?
No. A text or a call is appreciated so someone else can have the chair.
Do you do children’s nails?
Yes: a little-hands manicure for 12 and under is $18, with a parent nearby.
Health and your nails
I have diabetes. Can I still have a pedicure?
Yes. Tell your technician before the soak: we use warm rather than hot water, no cutting of skin and no callus shaving. If there is a cut or a sore on your feet, please see your doctor or podiatrist first.
What if a nail looks infected?
Redness, swelling, heat or pus around a nail can be an infection. Please see a doctor or urgent care first; we will take care of your nails once it has healed.
I get an itchy rash after gel. What should I do?
It can be an allergy to the product. See a doctor or a pharmacist, and tell your technician: we will soak it off and won’t reapply the same product.
Do you treat nail fungus?
No, that is for a doctor or a podiatrist. We won’t file down or polish over a nail that may be fungal.
