The studio
One bay, one car, and a gauge that settles arguments.
Verity Detail Studio has been working out of a single bay on Verity Lane in Tampa since 2019, by appointment only. There is no queue, no wash line, and no second car being worked on behind yours.

One car at a time on Verity Lane. No queue, no wash line, and no second car being worked on behind yours.

Why the readings go on your paper
Detailing has a structural honesty problem. The customer cannot see the thing being sold. Clear coat is forty-odd microns of transparent film — about half the thickness of a sheet of paper — and there is no way to look at a finished car and know whether the shine came from removing defects or from filling them, or how much of a finite layer was spent getting there. The work is invisible and the cost of doing it badly turns up years later, usually as clear coat failure on a roof or a hood that somebody polished one time too many.
A paint depth gauge is a cheap instrument that solves most of that. It tells you what is there before anyone starts, and if the number is written down and handed over, it tells the next person too. So every car that goes through this bay gets measured, and every customer leaves with the readings. It is not a marketing device. It is the only way to make an invisible trade checkable.
What we will say no to
- A second cutting pass on a panel that has already been cut thin, however good the result would look for the first year.
- Coating a car we have not been allowed to decontaminate and inspect, because the coating preserves whatever is under it.
- A glaze or a filler polish sold as correction. If a defect is going to come back after three washes, you are entitled to know that before you pay for it and not after.
- A full correction on a car going back to a leasing company next week, when the inspector is looking for dents and curbed wheels and will never see a swirl mark.
- Promising that a coating will stop a chip, a scratch from a shopping trolley, or the consequences of a brush car wash.
How the bay runs
Appointment only, one car at a time, and drop-off rather than wait. Correction and coating work needs controlled light and a closed bay overnight, so it is planned around a cure and not around a clock. Cars are not washed in the sun, are not blown dry in the open with the doors up in August, and are not handed back wet so the panels can water-spot on the drive home.

A note about this page. There is no history here about how many cars have come through, no award, no rating and no founder story with a number in it, because Verity Detail Studio is invented for this demonstration and inventing those things is exactly the habit this site is built to argue against. A real studio’s page would carry its own facts, and they would be checkable.
