Why it went green
Almost always one of four things: the stabilizer is so high that chlorine cannot work, the filter is not actually filtering, the pump is not running long enough, or nobody tested it for a month. Shocking a pool with 120 ppm of stabilizer is money poured in the deep end.
What the process actually is
Test, then balance, then chlorinate to a level the stabilizer reading actually requires, then filter continuously and clean the filter as the pressure climbs — usually more than once. Brushing does more than most people expect.
The honest limit
Some pools need a partial drain because the water chemistry cannot be corrected by adding anything. We will say so on day one rather than selling chemicals into a pool that cannot use them.
