What to have ready
The age of the roof if you know it, whether it has been repaired before and by whom, and whether the leak only shows up in wind-driven rain — that last one is diagnostic. A leak that only appears when the rain comes sideways is nearly always a wall, a window head or flashing, not a hole in the field of the roof.
