The staff

What it does for handyman businesses.

Nobody messages a handyman about one thing. They save the small jobs up until the list is worth a visit — the doorknob hole, the tub caulk, the gate that drags, the ceiling fan — and then send it to three people at once. You are on a ladder with a drill in your hand, so the list waits until evening, and when you do answer, half the reply is explaining which lines you are not allowed to take. In Florida that is a lot of lines: a fan swap is electrical work, a faucet is a plumber’s, a railing is a licensed contractor’s. The handyman who answers first, and answers straight, gets the rest of the list.

Example · an illustration, not a real customer
A Sunday evening, 8:15. A landlord with a unit turning over on the first opens the chat, says the place is empty and has to be ready by the 28th, then types the move-out list: patch two doorknob holes, recaulk the tub, rehang a closet door, rescreen the back door, a wobbling ceiling fan, a dripping kitchen faucet. The chat sorts it as she types — four lines yours, the fan marked for an electrician, the faucet for a plumber — and files it with her name and number. You read it Monday at seven with the two lines you cannot take already explained, and write her a price for the four that are yours.
  • The chat takes the job list one line at a time and sorts each line as it lands: yours, a licensed trade’s, or one you want to look at before you say yes.
  • On the lines you cannot take it names the trade — electrician, plumber, A/C contractor, roofer — and leaves them on the list at $0.00, so the customer hears it from the chat instead of from you at the door.
  • It says Florida’s $2,500 line out loud when a list starts to look long, and it never splits a list to stay under it.
  • For a rental turnover or a house going on the market it asks what that job needs: is anyone living there, who lets you in, and when it has to be finished.
  • A reply drafted to every review, in your voice, for you to approve — and a website on your own name that says what you do and what you refer.

Handyman website design

What should a handyman website include?

A handyman website should list the small jobs you take in plain words, say handyman and never contractor, and stay inside Florida's minor-work limit (under $2,500 in total, section 489.103). Its chat takes the whole job list and sorts each line: yours, a licensed trade's, or yours to look at first.

  1. A small-jobs menu in plain words

Hanging a door, fixing a gate, mounting a television and the other things you take are each easy to search for. A page that lists them tells the customer what to send and tells you what you will not be asked for.

  2. Where the Florida line sits

Florida's minor-work exemption (s. 489.103) covers casual work under $2,500 in total, and it is not available to anyone who advertises as a contractor. So the pages say handyman, never contractor, and do not offer work that needs a licensed trade.

  3. A list the chat can sort

The chat takes the list one line at a time and says which lines are yours, which belong to a licensed trade, and which you look at first. It never splits a list to stay under the limit, and nothing is priced over chat.

Questions

Straight answers.

What does the chat do with a long job list?

It takes the list one line at a time and sorts each line: yours, a licensed trade's, or one you look at first. Nothing is priced over chat, and it never splits a list to stay under the state's limit.

Can a handyman website list plumbing or electrical work?

Not for an unlicensed handyman. The chat names the licensed trade on anything that is not yours. Check your own limits with the state; this is a careful reading of the rules, not legal advice.

What does a handyman website cost?

Think of it as two bills that never mix: the website, paid once from $1,195, and an optional monthly plan from $49, month to month, no minimum. The pricing page shows every figure and what each plan includes. A handyman site needs a plain list of the small jobs you take, so customers know what to send.

How long does it take?

We build your first home page by hand, free, in 12 to 48 hours: your name as a handyman, the list of jobs you take and the area you cover. You review it before spending anything, and the rest of the site is planned with you from there.

Where is the line for a handyman business?

Where the line is, plainly, and in this trade most of it is the law’s. Florida’s handyman exemption (§489.103(9)) covers only casual, minor work where the whole job stays under $2,500 for labor, materials and everything else, and it does not apply to a job that is part of a larger operation or that is divided into smaller contracts to evade the rule. It is also not available to anyone who advertises as a contractor, which is why nothing on your site or in the chat calls you one. Anything beyond that, including work that needs a permit or a licensed trade, is for you to check with the state. The chat sorts a list against those lines out loud, names the trade on anything that is not yours, and never calls you a contractor. Nothing is priced over chat: a person reads the list and writes the price. The chat, the reviews, the marketing and the website run for a handyman business today; the shop-management platform is not part of what we sell for handyman work. How the demo draws those lines is a careful reading of the rules, not legal advice, and the gray items — grab bars, pool-fence gates, toilet tank parts — go to you to decide.

Do I own it, and what if I already have a website?

Keep the whole website on your own domain, every job list page included. Only the chat and the marketing end if the service does. If you already have a site that works, we can build around it; if it is holding your business back, we rebuild it.
